Carlthorp School has a challenging, coherent, and relevant curriculum that provides all students with appropriate courses of instruction consistent with the School’s philosophy, goals, and expectations for student achievement, as well as students’ needs, abilities, and interests.

The faculty and the administration have designed and implemented a variety of teaching strategies that actively engage students and address a variety of learning styles.  Because the faculty works closely together, the curriculum remains cumulative, and the knowledge and skills students acquire in one grade become the foundation on which they build in the next.  As our students approach graduation and entrance into middle school, they are eager and well-equipped to meet the challenges of their widening world.

This academic year the School will complete a fine-tuning of the writing program.  All faculty members are involved and are consulting both within grades and across grade levels to assure a curriculum that is consistent, cumulative, and aligned with the writing standards we refined last year.
