“The measure of who we are is what we do with what we have.”
- Vince Lombardi
The P.E. program focuses on students’ social and physical development. Classes are organized around the premise that academics and intellectual growth will proceed optimally when students have the benefit of physical development.
The P.E. curriculum focuses on the following: honing skills; pursuing a personal “best”; learning the rules of games; exhibiting sportsmanship; building self-confidence and leadership skills; participating actively in problem-solving; using good judgment; learning how to compete. The P.E. faculty, for its part, endeavors to meet the needs of a wide range of student interests and abilities and to give verbal recognition and praise for all students’ efforts.
The School provides a safe play and exercise environment. Supervision is close, direct, and continuous during all sessions. All the P.E. teachers know the students, their physical, social, and leadership strengths, as well as the areas that need attention. Basketball, volleyball, soccer, lacrosse, and hockey are components of regular physical educational classes in grades 3 – 6.
