Athletics
Athletes at Carlthorp School
Within the Carlthorp community, we enjoy our diverse community of interests and abilities. As athletes, our student body includes dancers, nationally competitive soccer and softball team members, as well as club volleyball, swim team and club basketball team members - even nationally ranked fencers, rock climbers, and gymnasts.

Physical Education
Beginning basketball, volleyball, and soccer are components of regular physical education classes throughout all grades. After-school classes in these same sports are available for kindergarten and 1st grade. Our physical education program focuses on developing skills, maximizing active and equal student participation, learning rules, caring for equipment, encouraging confidence, sportsmanship, fair-play, and self-control.

The Coastal Canyon League
Competitive sports teams at Carlthorp School begin in the fourth grade. As a member of the Coastal Canyon League, we compete against local schools, including Calvary Christian, Village, Willows, Brawerman, Brentwood, Santa Monica Montessori, Park Century School, and Turning Point. In the fall season, Carlthorp School offers co-ed flag football, and girls’ basketball. The winter season offers boys' basketball and girls’ volleyball; the spring season offers co-ed soccer and co-ed volleyball. Practices are held at Carlthorp School, while games are held either at home, or at any of the nearby schools in the league. With a supportive, experienced coaching staff, and no "try outs," everyone who wants to participate during the season is invited to play.
