The Heart and Soul of the School
Carlthorp School's faculty is the heart and soul of the school. All of our classroom teachers hold California Teaching Credentials, and many have advanced degrees, including several with Masters, Reading Specialist Credentials, and two with PhDs.

Subject Specialists
Our commitment to small group instruction, promises Reading Specialists for every grade, as well Math Specialists (beginning in the second grade) and English specialists (beginning in the third grade.) Two faculty members specialize in science, working within a fully developed science lab. Two specialists focus on Fine Arts and Music, teaching from the Art and Music Room. Our Computer Specialist teaches early morning and after-school classes from the comfort of our state of the art Computer Lab; by the time your child graduates, they will be proficient at the keyboard, well beyond the level of the average seventh grader at most secondary schools. Our Spanish teacher visits the classroom to teach whole-group lessons that include a variety of songs and activities through fourth grade. At Carlthorp School, even the majority of our classroom aides are credentialed.

Supporting Teachers
Because we recognize the importance of developing and retaining a competitive and inventive faculty, Carlthorp School has recently embraced an endowment campaign which takes as its focus the Faculty Endowment. The Endowment has allowed Carlthorp School to subsidize faculty salaries, enhance retirement packages, and sponsor continuing education for all faculty members who wish to pursue advanced degrees. The response has been overwhelming; clearly, Carlthorp School families have all experienced firsthand the importance of the faculty within the lives of our children.
