Families
Parents in the Classroom
Our students' families play an important role in the Carlthorp School community. Our students' families are deeply committed to their children and the quality of their children’s school experience; parents are quick to volunteer, and many play an active role in day to day school life. Whether you are a Room Parent or a classroom volunteer, you are likely to find yourself coming into the classroom to do everything from making apple prints on t-shirts in second grade, gluing corn masks in fifth grade, or driving sixth grade photographers across L.A. as they work on their photo essays. School-wide events like Grandparents’ and Special Friends' Day, International Day, and the Halloween Carnival couldn't happen without the good will of our parent body. Chances are, you'll want to be put to work - and chances are, we've got work for you!

Parents in the Community
Parents are given a variety of opportunities to give back to the school community, whether giving resources, in the case of the Endowment Campaign, or volunteering at and attending the popular Golf and Tennis Scholarship Tournament at the Riviera Country Club. A bi-annual community building event becomes a labor of love for many parents within the community; past years have raised considerable funds for the school, while the 2005 event -"Love Art" - is simply a parent party at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, with no goal other than showcasing and celebrating our own amazing student artwork, and building friendships within our school parent body.

Life After Carlthorp
When your child graduates, you'll look back at the other parents in your class - the ones you sat on the bus with in Sacramento, or worked alongside in the sixth grade Haunted House - and you'll know these are friends of a lifetime - for your child and your family. Carlthorp senior classes reunite at the finale of their twelth grade year to reminisce and to share which universities they will be attending in the upcoming fall. Carlthorp School educates more than just the child.
