Online Bidding and Auction Rules and Guidelines

General Information

• Register online at www.carlthorp.cmarket.com or click HERE. New users need to create a user name and password in order to view and bid on items in the online auction.

• Bidding begins for the online Silent Auction at 4:00pm PST on Friday, April 25, 2008 and ends at 9:00pm PST on Sunday, May 4, 2008.

• You must provide a valid credit card in order to bid.

• Each item indicates a minimum bid and the incremental amount required to increase the previous bid. Some items have a “Buy Now” price, which allows a buyer to immediately purchase the item and prevents any further bidding on this item.

• Values set forth for the auction are best estimates only. The Auction Committee and Carlthorp School make no guarantees or warranties for tax purposes and general value.

• Carefully read the description for each item prior to bidding so that you are aware of all exclusions, restrictions, terms and expiration dates.

• Unless specified, all items and services must be used or redeemed within one year of the date of the Auction and are subject to terms and conditions set forth by the donors.

• Auction items and information concerning item content is displayed online under the item number and placed in a group according to type.

• All successful bids for PARTIES are transferrable, but are non-refundable.

• All sales are FINAL; there will be no exchanges or refunds.

• It is the buyer’s responsibility to initiate contact with the donor of items, such as hotels, homes, tickets, and services to arrange for receipt of the purchased item once it has been received.

• Once the auction ends, winners will be notified by email.

• When you purchase a "Buy Now" item, you will not be notified by email after the auction closes.

• Except in the case of “Priceless” items, dollar amounts listed are fair market value for goods and services.

• IRS regulations require that we provide the following information to auction participants:

*The amounts of the contribution, whether for a donated or purchased item that is deductable for federal income tax purchases is limited to the excess of any money (and the value of any property other than money) contributed by the donor of purchased by the bidder over the value of goods or services sold. Any question with regard or the tax treatment of your contributions or purchases should be referred to a qualified tax professional. For auction purchases, your itemized receipt sent by email is your official receipt.

Once Auction Begins

* Once you bid on an item, you can check under “My List,” which is on the auction home page, to keep track of your bids.

* New items may be added throughout the auction period. Please check the auction frequently to make your bids and check out new items

Party Bidding

• Each party spot available will have its own item number and will be bid on separately. Parties spots are sold as "Buy Now" items only. You may purchase on more than one spot of a party. Each spot for a party is priced at the same "Buy Now" price, please read the auction details for number of people and per spot.

Closing of Silent Auction
• When the Auction closes, the highest bid at that time will be the winner of the item, If you have the highest bid, then your credit card will be automatically be charged at the time of closing. If there are problems with the approval of credit card charges, then the Auction Committee will do their best to secure a viable credit card from the bidder. If the Committee is unable to do so, then the next highest bidder will be contacted and declared the winner of the item.

• Winners may pick up their items on Wednesday, May 7, 2008 and Thursday, May 8, 2008 from 8:15am to 3:30pm in the Carlthorp School Board Room. Please do not enter through the front office. The San Vicente side door will be open for pick up.
