Carlthorp School seeks a skilled and dedicated Academic Learning Specialist to work within the scope of our academic program and collaborate with parents, students, faculty, and staff in support of diverse learners. The specialist will bring expertise in learning differences and instructional strategies to help ensure that all students are able to access the curriculum and reach their full academic potential.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with teachers, parents, reading and math specialists, our Social Emotional Learning specialist, and other school staff to identify and assess students' learning needs and develop individualized learning plans.
Provide targeted academic interventions to support students in areas such as reading, writing, math, and executive functioning skills.
Monitor and track students' progress towards academic goals, and adjust instruction and interventions as needed.
Provide classroom support to teachers, including co-teaching and modeling effective instructional strategies and supporting use of necessary student accommodations.
Communicate regularly with parents to provide updates on students' progress and strategies for supporting their learning at home.
Attend and participate in team meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and other school events as needed.
Stay up-to-date on best practices in learning support and special education, and collaborate with colleagues to implement effective strategies and interventions.
Maintain accurate records of student progress and interventions.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Learning Support, or a related field.
Teaching certification and experience working with elementary students with diverse learning needs.
Knowledge of evidence-based practices in learning support and special education.
Ability to develop and implement individualized learning plans that address students' unique strengths and challenges.
Experience with targeted academic interventions and progress monitoring.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with teachers, parents, and other school staff.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Salary Range
Salary: $80,000-$120,000 (commensurate with experience)
This is a full-time position with competitive salary and benefits.
Note: This job operates on a 10-month calendar. Evening and weekend hours may be required.
