Starting with basic book care and the “Five-Finger Rule” for selecting just-right reads, children quickly progress to navigating the Dewey Decimal System. Through award-winning literature and engaging read-alouds, our youngest learners discover how to explore fiction, non-fiction, and reference materials with ease.

• Advanced Inquiry

  GRADES 3-6
  
  In the upper grades, the library transforms into an academic research lab. Students master our online database, analyze literature across global cultures, and evaluate online source credibility. By the time they graduate in 6th grade, Carlthorp students are independent researchers who are skilled at constructing bibliographies, citing sources accurately, and thinking critically about complex media.

• Digital Citizenship

  GRADES K-6
  
  In an increasingly connected world, we teach students to navigate technology thoughtfully, safely, and ethically. Using trusted, age-appropriate frameworks like Common Sense Media (grades K-2) and The Social Institute (grades 3-6), our curriculum embeds vital lessons on digital safety, screen-time balance, and online empathy. We ensure Carlthorp students grow into responsible, kind, and confident digital citizens both in and out of school.
