Students Bond at Mix It Up Lunch

Carlthorp School students joined millions of other students around the world and participated in Mix It Up at Lunch Day on Tuesday, October 22, 2019.
This international campaign encourages students to identify, question and cross social boundaries.

At Carlthorp, students were randomly assigned to a lunch table. Students from different grade levels sat together, sharing stories and asking each other questions … all with the purpose of building empathy for each other, fostering friendships and strengthening the ties of our community.

Mrs. Meyer, the school Librarian and organizer of Mix It Up at Lunch Day delivered her Thought of the Day at morning assembly about the day.  She concluded by telling students, “I encourage you to go into this day with an open mind, open heart and a positive attitude … and I challenge you to learn at least one new thing about each person who sits at your table. Prove to yourself and everyone around you that we are indeed the welcoming community that we say we are.”

Carlthorp School participates Mix It Up at Lunch Day three times per school year, the next of which will take place in late January 2020.
