Carlthorp School Launches Distance Learning

On March 13, 2020, Carlthorp School closed the campus to students, parents, faculty and staff and announced that our Distance Learning program would commence on Monday, March 16.
An informal test of the distance learning system via Zoom was administered with parents on March 11 and teachers quickly prepared packets for students to take home in preparation for an extended closure due to COVID-19. Describing the transition, Steve Springer, Associate Head of School and Principal said, “In a very short period of time teachers, students, and parents were able to embrace the new distance learning model thanks to the unwavering professionalism of our faculty and staff. We are very fortunate that we could collaborate with other independent schools in the area and throughout California to collectively brainstorm best practices. In the end, I could not be more pleased with the way our entire community came together during such a difficult time.”
