It is with great enthusiasm that we share El Mundo, the annual Spanish magazine, with stories written and illustrated by Carlthorp students.
A departure from the traditional format of individual stories submitted by students, this year,El Mundowas created in partnership with the Pedagogical Institute of Los Angeles (PILA) to bring joy to students aged 3 to 10 years old at Canyon Nest, a diverse community of over 200 South American, Central American, and Haitian refugees living together awaiting resettlement. The magazine and props to bring the stories to life were sent to the Nest and will be enjoyed by the children. Thank you to our Spanish Department, Art Department, Ms. Kuolt, and our students for creating such a meaningful magazine, the pages of which are filled with love and hope. We hope you enjoy the magazine!
