Service is a cornerstone of our mission and a vital component of our academic program. Through structured Service Learning, our students apply classroom knowledge to real-world challenges, developing critical thinking skills while fostering deep empathy, collaboration, and civic responsibility.

The K-6 Service Learning Continuum
Every student experiences the power of making a meaningful difference. Our scaffolded Service Learning curriculum expands with your child's world, starting with immediate local relationships in kindergarten and growing to complex global stewardship by 6th grade.

Kindergarten: Kind, Caring Community
Through organizations like WISE & Healthy Aging, kindergarten students learn from and build supportive, empathetic relationships with senior citizens in our local community. -
1st Grade: Animals of Our World
Advocating for animals and our role in protecting them -
2nd Grade: Oceans of Love
Protecting the oceans that connect us across the world -
3rd Grade: Our City, Our Home
Students support citizens of Santa Monica and greater Los Angeles through acts of service, partnering with organizations such as Upward Bound House. -
4th Grade: Environmental Protectors
Building on their studies of California history, 4th graders learn about the land, water, and environmental issues that impact our communities, such as drought, floods, and coastline preservation. -
5th Grade: Inclusion and Access for All
Disability advocacy and inclusion -
6th Grade: A Drop of Water
Students explore access to water and the impacts on communities globally and locally, leading to powerful discussions about borders, accessibility, civilizations, and conflict.
